The original design of the Campus, initially known as the Tournament, was launched in the late 1970s and was rebranded as Campus in the 1980s. You might assume the Campus 00s are a modern iteration released in the 2000s, but they actually debuted in 2022.
The name Campus 00s stems from its style inspiration drawn from the skater culture of that period. It’s easy to see this influence when you look at the trainers.
With their bold, chunky soles, wide laces, and pronounced proportions, the Campus 00s exude a laid-back vibe reminiscent of youthful skaters. Some might see them as bulky or cartoonish, but that’s part of their distinct appeal.
These trainers are intentionally oversized, designed to pair seamlessly with baggy jeans and relaxed trousers, which is very much in line with current trends. And let’s talk about comfort—these shoes feel like you’re slipping into cozy slippers. Who cares what the teenagers think; for me, a middle-aged woman, they’re a dream come true!
The quality of the suede is excellent; just make sure to apply some protector, especially if you opt for lighter colors like my daughter and I did. Plus, each pair comes with an additional set of white laces to mix up the look for different occasions.
